I found a very interesting book called Army Wives on the Frontier. It describes the life of pioneer army wives both on the east coast and out on the frontier. Since I am an army wife( my husband retired from the national guard after 22 years) I really found this book to be interesting. I didn't have time to read the whole thing but I set up a bookmark so I can go back to reading it. I haven't read a book on the computer before so I find that my eyes get tired and I can't read as long as I can a regular book.
I looked up Constitution Day and found many interesting books. The Bill of Rights: A Bicentennial Assessment was very detailed but interesting. I also found one The Constitution of the United States- which was just what it is called.
I also found a fiction story that they might read for Constitution Day- America As Story- Historical Fiction for Middle and Secondary Schools. It covers from colonial through modern day and has suggestions for reports.
Finally, I did a search on Nebraska- there were several interesting choices.
Some of these were: African Americans on the Western Frontier, From Fort Laramie to Wounded Knee: The West that Was, Uncommon Common Women: Ordinary Lives of the West- I will go back and spend some more time reading these resources. Looks interesting!
Thanks for the post, teachercj! Glad you were able to find some good stuff. We think NetLibrary expands your local library's offerings, is available 24/7, and the item is there without waiting for interlibrary loan.
ReplyDeleteI really liked this resource and found it very easy to use!
